Overview
Miss A is a beauty and lifestyle brand known for its high quality cruelty free cosmetics at $1. While the company began as an online retailer, it has expanded into physical locations while keeping a strong focus on affordability and minimal packaging.
As a designer and a fan of the brand, I decided to create a suite of marketing materials for a fictional grand opening. This project involved designing a direct mailer, a free sample package, and select pages for a potential product catalog. These pieces were designed to celebrate the brand’s expansion while staying true to its established visual identity.
Process
Even though I was already familiar with the brand, I expanded my knowledge by researching the company's history and analyzing its current design style. This presented a unique challenge because Miss A keeps product costs low by minimizing traditional advertising and packaging. Identifying a definitive look was difficult since the brand utilizes a wide variety of design styles across its various lines.
Through my analysis, I identified several recurring elements that define the Miss A aesthetic. I focused my work on their core palette of pink, black, and white while incorporating the gradients and textures like marble and silk that appear throughout their branding. I also utilized a bold all caps typeface to maintain consistency with their existing visual identity.
